Over the last month, IIT Bombay, IIT Jammu, and IIT Gandhinagar were home to Invention Factory 2023. The atmosphere was electric, with passionate students preparing their pitches and tinkering with prototypes. Students from IITs and NITs across India teamed up to participate in Invention Factory. Led by Professors Alan Wolf and Eric Lima, students became intimately acquainted with the process of prototyping and applying for a patent in India and the US.
This edition of the newsletter celebrates the winners of Invention Factory 2023, where novel ideas with real-world utility were born and nurtured.

Invention Factory 2023
Invention Factory® 2023 expanded to a new location, adding IIT Jammu to now be spread across three locations. We received 200+ applications, shortlisted 60 students, and are all set to file 30 provisional patents, bringing the total tally up to 70. Throughout the programme over 200 evaluators joined Invention Factory and the finale saw 25+ jury members.
“I asked 10 of my corporate clients whether they could go from ideation to creating a patentable working product prototype in 4 months with their best resources, they said it would take a year or two. When I mentioned that 2nd and 3rd-year students achieved it in 6 weeks at The Invention Factory, their jaws dropped. The lives of these students’ have changed, and no other organisation offers such a transformative experience.
