Welcome to the August edition of our newsletter!
The importance of students solving real-world problems cannot be overstated. When engineering students are encouraged to tackle ‘real world’ challenges, they develop practical skills relevant to industries. This hands-on approach bridges the gap between academic learning and industry demands, ensuring students are better prepared for the workforce.
The National Skill Development Mission has already underscored a need for integrated skill training with formal education to enhance employability. The reality on the ground is that there is a mismatch between the academic training provided and the actual needs of the industry.
We redesigned Vishwakarma Awards 2024 to include industry-defined problem solving as our efforts towards bridging this gap. By partnering with industry partners across 3 tracks —Water & Sanitation, Green Technology, and Smart Mobility—students can engage directly with challenges that matter. They continue their learning journey beyond the awards timeline by continuing these projects through summer internships at the company locations and hopefully opening up a new arena of academia and industry colaboration.
